Litigation is costly, unpredictable and stressful. Mediation is a cost-effective alternative to litigation, where the parties can work together with the help of a neutral mediator to resolve their disputes. No claim is too large, too complex or too small to benefit from the mediation process.
At Pinto Shekib Dispute Resolution, we conduct mediations throughout Ontario. We work with the parties to better understand the legal and emotional dimensions of their conflict, with the goal of developing practical solutions to their complicated legal problems. We deliver effective, fair and balanced mediation services in a wide range of areas, including in employment law, estates disputes, real estate disputes and insurance matters.
Sancia Pinto is an experienced Lawyer, Mediator and Adjudicator, who has been providing dispute resolution services since 2015. Sancia received her training in negotiation and mediation at The Harvard Negotiation Institute at Harvard Law School. Sancia is a certified Adjudicator and completed her Advanced Certificate in Adjudication through the Society of Ontario Adjudicators and Regulators (SOAR) and Osgoode Professional Development.
Prior to entering private practice, Sancia served as a Mediator and Adjudicator with the Licence Appeal Tribunal. At the LAT, Sancia conducted thousands of mediations over the years and issued many decisions involving complex disputes between insurance companies and injured car accident victims. Sancia has also served as an Adjudicator and Mediator with the Condominium Authority Tribunal, the Administrative Penalty Tribunal, and the Ministry of Attorney General Court Services Division (Superior Court).
At Pinto Shekib Dispute Resolution, Sancia’s Mediation and Arbitration practice focuses on insurance (disability, life, subrogation, occupier’s liability, motor vehicle, property and casualty, accident benefits and professional negligence), real estate, employment, solicitor/client assessments, construction and condominium related disputes.
Sancia adopts a progressive, value added and responsive approach to every mediation. She has facilitated hundreds of settlements, valued at millions of dollars, in complex civil cases.
Farhad Shekib is an experienced civil litigator, who is developing a growing mediation practice in the areas of employment law, estates disputes, real property litigation and insurance matters. As counsel, Farhad has secured millions of dollars in settlements for his clients via private mediation. Farhad understands the value of mediation, which includes:
- Control: the parties determine their own process and work towards a mutually agreeable solution.
- Finality: early resolution of otherwise long-standing disputes provides the parties with immediate closure and cost-savings, both in terms of time and money.
- Confidentiality: settlements at mediation are generally confidential and shielded from public scrutiny.
As a mediator, Farhad works closely with the parties to understand the legal and factual issues at dispute. However, every case is different, as are the emotions that typically guide the litigation. Farhad helps the parties understand the impediments to settlement, and he is known to craft creative solutions that facilitate settlements.
